Hello From the Magic Tavern (Podcast)
What: About 3-ish years ago I started listening to a podcast about a guys who fell through a magical portal behind a Burger King in Chicago where he now hosts a podcast using the WiFi signal from the Burger King through the portal in The Vermilion Minotaur, in the town of Hogs Face, in the land of Foon. And he is joined every week by Chunt the talking, shape shifting, badger and Usidore the Blue*. It is an improv comedy podcast set in a fictional fantasy world with a building mythos that is really quite clever.
Why: This should be your next binge, or weekly tune in because it is hilarious, ridiculous, and brilliant. There are wonderful guest stars and you will oddly find yourself getting really lost in this world and all of its running jokes. There is really intricate world building done on the fly and, considering it is improv, they stick to it very well. I have found myself listening to the new episode every week (while wondering around Costco) and trying my hardest to not laugh out loud. I wouldn’t recommend this for kids, I would recommend this for the earbud listening while in the presence of others, and I wouldn’t recommend it to someone who can’t get behind a good butt hole joke (there are a lot in the beginning.) If you want to laugh at smart, yet absolutely absurd things then this is your podcast.
