Current Obsession Wednesday: An Absolutely Remarkable Thing (Book)

Current Obsession Wednesday: An Absolutely Remarkable Thing (Book)

Unavoidable spoilers: if you like YouTube culture, in depth critical looks at internet fame, and mysteries that are out of this world, then read this book without any more information.

If you are okay with knowing the the slightest bit more read on.

What: An amazing in depth look at at internet viral fame that then turns into an interesting science fiction story set in modern day. April May finds a robot statue on the sidewalk of Manhattan’s flatiron district. As an artist, she stops to appreciate it and film a silly video with a friend pretending to interview it. This video goes viral and the world is changed overnight.

That is all I’m telling you.

That might even be too much.

Why: I love Hank Green so that is why I read it. He could have written catalog descriptions for shoes and I would have read it. I want to support him in all of his endeavors. So yes I may be biased, but if I didn’t like this book, If I didn’t think it was worth people's’ time then I wouldn’t write about it. This book is capital U, Unique. It is like someone took a youtuber’s book about being internet famous and mashed it together with something absolutely remarkable.

This is Hank Green’s first book. I know he is talented, but I didn’t know what to expect from his writing. I was not disappointed. Please please please read this book and then tell me all your thoughts about it because I am currently obsessing over it (did you not get that from this being a COW post?)

Cherry on top: His brother, John Green (you might have heard of him) did this amazing thing for his birthday and the release of his book  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=91jkq2_jdOA
